INTRODUCING... Five Characters from A Second Story!

Hi friends!

Welcome to my very first blog post! I don't know if you noticed over on my Instagram this week, but I had a series of posts go up introducing you all to five impor

tant characters in A Second Story: Arileas, Finnean, Sage, Chervil, and May. And I thought - why not introduce them all here, too?

All of the images were sourced from Pinterest, and edited by me in Canva.

INTRODUCING… Ari, one of my two main characters, and arguably the character that is most like me, for better or for worse.

Ari is an elf from a long line of proud elven folk, who decided one day that he didn’t want to follow in his family’s footsteps and journey down one of wizardry instead - which set him off on a path away from his family home and eventually into the path of a rather infamous man by the name of Finnean Goldmark (who you will meet below!).

Fun facts:

  • Ari loves wildflowers,

  • he is a wizard,

  • he has a bag of holding he calls his Library of Holding, and

  • he is a realist, though Finn helps him dream.

INTRODUCING... Finn!

Ah, Finnean. My ex-assassin turned adventurer turned bookstore owner - dreamer extraordinaire. He loves deeply and continuously doesn't quite believe that his life is real, but man, he loves it. He's flirty and charming and isn't afraid to show Ari exactly how much he loves him.

Fun facts:

  • He has two twin daggers with gold filigree on the pommels,

  • he doesn't really like reading all that much, but enjoys Ari's enjoyment of books, and

  • his backstory is haunting him, juuuuust a bit (but for that, you'll have to read the book).

INTRODUCING... SAGE!

Sage Tealeaf is a wannabe adventurer at heart. She will warm your insides with her joy and pure love for the world, and her constant wish to live out an epic story of her own. She is a young, almost 18 year old sage-green tiefling who works at the bookstore in Arrowmount before Ari and Finn roll into town, and lives with her granddad Chervil in the old lighthouse. So you know, imagine that these photos feature a girl with green skin and hair, rather than white and blonde. It was the closest I could find!

Fun facts:

  • Sage works at Arrowmount Books as a clerk, and loves the store deeply,

  • Sage has Druidic powers,

  • she likes to wear fancier dresses a lot, but every day ones have to (HAVE to) have pockets, and

  • she loves to decorate her long green hair and horns with jewelry.

INTRODUCING... Old Chervil!

The old, dark-blue tiefling who runs the lighthouse at the end of Fetterly Place in Arrowmount, Chervil, is a wonderful old man. He can be a bit much for his granddaughter, Sage, to deal with sometimes, but he’s loveable and takes so much pride in her and those around him.

Fun facts:

  • He is taller than both Ari and Finn, and is still incredibly strong, despite his age,

  • he regularly spends time with May at her cafe, and

  • he loves syrupy cherry pie. But I mean, who doesn't?

And finally, INTRODUCING... May!

May’s a very special character to me, though she doesn’t play a huge part in the narrative of A Second Story. she’s a cafe owner, an elf, and has been in Arrowmount for about a decade running her cafe when the story starts. She makes friends with the locals, charms them with her food and drink, and seems to know exactly what you’ll want when you sit down at her table.

Fun facts:

  • May is a Druid as well (her plants flock to her like puppies, honestly),

  • she originally ran a travelling tea cart-like service, and was convinced to stay by Chervil,

  • though no one asked, her favourite beverage is a really strong mug of black tea, and

  • She is inspired by and moulded by Meg, who runs the Tiktok account Meg's Tea Room, if you are at all familiar. I adore her, and she inspires me on the daily, so I wanted to create a character after her.

And that's the five! I hope you love the sneak peek at them almost as much as you're going to love them when you meet them in A Second Story. On top of them, you'll be meeting folks like Calian and Andrew and Tae and Cobb and many, many more.

I hope you're as excited to meet them as I am to welcome you to Arrowmount on May 11th!
